Candidate Statement

As a participant in Fairfax for 5 years, I have a great appreciation for our unique town. I have many ideas to make it even better.

I think Fairfax should encourage alternate transportation. Traffic is getting worse, so let's make it easier for bicycles. Providing bike racks in town would be a start.

The town must promote local businesses by keeping Fairfax dollars in Fairfax and bringing outside dollars in. We can hold Town-sponsored events and advertising contests.

Events are an excellent way to pay for town services. Possible events are mountain biking races (Fairfax IS the home of mountain biking) and a Bacchus Wine Festival, to be kicked off by Alan Bengyal, Town Manager, parading down Broadway at 4pm on the Summer solstice wearing a toga and sandals.

Income from events could provide high-speed wireless internet access to all Fairfax residents without additional cost.

I will create a Fairfax Towelie Band Committee to handle PR and news crews that pester our town with stories that don't exist.

I'll quell anxieties at Town Council meetings by requiring Councilmembers respond to Open Time comments in pig latin and having interns to perform emergency foot massages for frustrated onlookers.
